PATRICK SCOTT, RESUME
BRIEF ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I use abstract symbolism to probe the space where we, as humans, interact with the natural world. Mankind’s fondness for rectilinear geometry contrasts sharply with the curvaceous variety of Nature. My work explores the duality of this relationship; seeking to balance human tendencies towards analysis and control on the one hand, with Nature’s impassive “Laws” and tremendous power on the other.

INFORMAL ART TRAINING
Chronic, compulsive exploration of creative expression from early childhood to present through writing, music, woodworking, photography and sculpture. Always willing to study the technical aspects of construction and fabrication and accept advice on how to more fully develop a vision. Steadfastly disinterested in studying formalized art curricula or theory.
As a classically trained musician, I use an appreciation of rhythm, form, balance and blending of opposing elements in my sculpture.
